Getting around Wichita Falls

Wichita Falls sits about 15 miles south of the Red River, at the point where I-44 ends and meets US-287 and the Kell Freeway. The MPEC complex at 1000 5th Street holds Kay Yeager Coliseum, Memorial Auditorium and the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall, and The Warehouse and the Kemp Center for the Arts share Lamar Street. Midwestern State University is on the southwest side at 3410 Taft Boulevard, and Lucy Park, home of the rebuilt falls, is at 100 Sunset Drive.

The airport situation is what sets this city apart. Wichita Falls Regional (SPS) shares its runway with Sheppard Air Force Base about six miles north of downtown, and its only scheduled flights are American Eagle to and from DFW. Driving to DFW is the alternative to the connection.

Luxury airport car service: SPS, DFW and Oklahoma City

SPS publishes no limousine zone, so the chauffeur takes one of the short-term spaces in front of the terminal and walks in to meet you. DFW is about 121 road miles, roughly 2 hours 15 minutes when traffic is light. Will Rogers in Oklahoma City is 134 miles up I-44, about two hours, and Lawton-Fort Sill Regional is 50 miles. Each of those runs carries one fixed price for the trip rather than an hourly rate.

Sheppard graduations. Sheppard trains pilots for 13 NATO nations in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program, and the 82nd Training Wing runs technical schools for every service. Relatives can be collected at SPS or DFW and taken to the Main Gate, which is open around the clock; passes come from the Visitor Center at 210 Missile Road.

Weddings. The Warehouse at 1401 Lamar Street holds up to 1,000 guests, the Kemp Center is just down the street at 1300 Lamar, and The Kell House is at 900 Bluff Street. Lake Arrowhead State Park and Lake Wichita Park suit outdoor ceremonies.

Executive travel. Sedans and SUVs for people visiting United Regional, Midwestern State or contractors working with Sheppard, the city's largest employer.

Nights out and ride weekend. Concerts at Kay Yeager, Wichita Falls Brewing, the three Devol casinos about 20 minutes north across the Red River, and the Hotter'N Hell Hundred, which starts downtown at 7:05 am on a late-August Saturday.

My wife and I worked with Igor and Limo SF VIP for our wedding. They did an absolutely amazing job. They provided both a luxury sprinter van to carry the bridal party and groomsmen to a first look sight at the busy palace of fine arts and then to the venue and provided luxury ~50-person bus for guests to leave venue. All of the drivers were responsive, and kind. At the end of the night the bus driver even spent an extra ~30 minutes driving the late-night party crew to several different bars after some we intended to go were closed. Overall, 6/5 service. Their prices are fair, and the team is wonderful to work with. I'd highly recommend Limo SF VIP to anyone looking for coach, private limo, or large party needs.

Excellent service! As I was boarding my flight on my way to SFO I was able to book and confirm the service last minute, so quickly. Our driver waited for us by baggage claim and helped us out with our numerous bags. The car was also fabulous! Arriving to SF in style!

Wichita Falls limo and car service questions

In the short-term spaces right outside the civilian terminal, and your quote names the spot. SPS is a joint airfield: the Air Force owns it, the City of Wichita Falls runs the passenger side, and the runway is shared with Sheppard. The airport posts no limousine lane, but it keeps short-term spaces outside the new terminal for people meeting arrivals, so that is where the car waits. The only scheduled flights are American Eagle from DFW, so give us that flight number and a late inbound simply moves your meeting time.

Ride when the last DFW-to-SPS hop doesn't fit your arrival; connect when it does. SPS has one airline and one route, so a missed connection at DFW leaves you waiting on the next American Eagle departure. By road, DFW airport is about 121 miles from Wichita Falls, close to 2 hours 15 minutes without heavy traffic on US-287. For a group, a Sprinter from DFW avoids hauling bags through a second flight. Oklahoma City's Will Rogers, 134 miles up I-44, is the other option, and both runs carry one set price per trip.

A sedan, SUV or Sprinter from DFW, about 121 miles, dropping them at the Sheppard Main Gate or the spot their sponsor names. ENJJPT is the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program, roughly 55 weeks on the T-6 and T-38, with student pilots from 13 NATO nations. Visitor passes come from the Visitor Center at 210 Missile Road, open weekdays 6:30 am to 4:30 pm, and a REAL ID and a sponsor are needed. The base decides who gets in; we just get your people to the gate on time.

Ride morning is the tight spot. The Hotter'N Hell Hundred rolls out of downtown at 7:05 am on a Saturday in late August, with somewhere between 10,000 and 14,000 cyclists, so expect crowds around the start. The 2026 edition ran August 27 to 30; the event's own rule of nine days before Labor Day puts the 2027 ride on Saturday, August 28. For that morning we set a pickup a few blocks clear of the start area and write the corner into the quote. Book the hotel and the car together.

The graduate ceremony is Friday, December 11, 2026, at 6 pm in D.L. Ligon Coliseum on the Taft Boulevard campus, and the university calendar also lists fall undergraduate ceremonies at Ligon; check the date there. One quote can hold the SPS or DFW pickup, the drive to campus and a dinner after. MSU's spring ceremonies on May 15 and 16, 2026 had 606 degree candidates, which tells you how busy that weekend gets. A Sprinter fits grandparents, parents and luggage in a single vehicle.

One option is a single hourly charter with two vehicles: the couple rides in a sedan or stretch while a Sprinter carries the bridal party behind them. Three well-known venues sit downtown: The Warehouse at 1401 Lamar Street, which seats up to 1,000, the Kemp Center for the Arts at 1300 Lamar, and The Kell House at 900 Bluff Street. Lake Wichita Park on Fairway Boulevard and Lake Arrowhead State Park are the outdoor choices, and Lucy Park by the falls makes an easy photo stop on the way.

Yes, sedans or SUVs on a schedule you send us. Sheppard is the biggest employer in Wichita Falls with about 7,200 people, followed by the school district, United Regional Health Care System at around 2,100 and Midwestern State at about 1,300. Business visitors land at DFW or SPS, so a plan can pair an airport run with hotel-to-site rides during the stay. For a recruiting visit or a site audit, a single car with the chauffeur on call across the day can replace several separate bookings.

Mostly by the hours and the vehicle you choose. A graduation day around Ligon Coliseum, or ferrying riders between hotels and the start line on ride weekend, is an hourly charter, and a Sprinter or mini coach has a higher hourly minimum than a sedan. Longer hauls, such as bringing relatives in from DFW, get one flat trip price instead. Spring wedding season and Saturday nights sit at the top of the range. No tip at the curb: the 20 percent gratuity shows up as a separate line on your bill.

Yes, the city requires a chauffeur permit, and bigger vehicles answer to TxDMV as well. Wichita Falls issues those permits at its Fleet Maintenance office, 2100 Seymour Highway, and an applicant needs a sponsorship letter from the company plus a copy of a driver’s license. A party bus or coach with seating for 16 or more, counting the driver, also needs a TxDMV number, and TxDMV’s motor carrier line at (800) 299-1700 can confirm one. Rides we arrange are run by partner operators, and those two offices are where to confirm a permit.

You’ll usually see it coming, and we adjust the pickup with you. In the late January 2026 storm, local news reported TxDOT crews treating I-44, US-287 and the Kell Freeway for black ice, and those roads carry nearly every DFW trip. When ice shows up in the forecast, we get in touch ahead of the day and offer an earlier start or a new time. The call on whether a road is drivable belongs to the chauffeur on the morning, and your quote sets out the bad-weather and cancellation terms.

Three sets of dates stand out on the local calendar. Midwestern State holds commencement at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in mid-May and mid-December, and its spring 2026 ceremonies had 606 degree candidates. The Hotter’N Hell Hundred puts 10,000 to 14,000 cyclists on the downtown start line on a late-August Saturday. Sheppard graduates pilot and technical-school classes on its own schedule, so look up the class date rather than assuming a weekday is quiet. If your trip lands on one of those dates, send the request early, particularly when a group needs more than one vehicle.

Yes, as a full-day hourly charter. The refuge sits just outside Lawton and Fort Sill in southwest Oklahoma and covers about 60,000 acres of mixed-grass prairie and old granite mountains, with herds of bison, longhorn and Rocky Mountain elk and more than 275 bird species. Visitors hike, fish, kayak and photograph wildlife. A 14-seat Sprinter lets a family or reunion group travel together and stop where they choose; send us the start time and the stops, and the hours go on the quote.
