Getting around Houma
Houma is the seat of Terrebonne Parish, a city of 33,406 at the 2020 census, sitting about 10 feet above sea level. US 90, signed as the future I-49, is the main highway through town. Thibodaux and Nicholls State University are 16 miles and about 24 minutes away; downtown New Orleans is roughly 55 miles, just over an hour.
Plan around two local facts. Storm season lasts from June through November, and LA 1, the road down to Port Fourchon, is prone to flooding in storms of any size. Then there's Carnival: Houma rolls ten parades, eight on the two weekends before Mardi Gras and two on the day itself, which is February 9 in 2027.
Airport car service and shuttle from Houma to MSY
The nearest airline airport is Louis Armstrong New Orleans International (MSY) in Kenner, about 44 miles and 51 minutes from Houma in light traffic. MSY posts curb spots for taxis and hotel shuttles outside Level 1 baggage claim but none for prearranged cars, so the chauffeur leaves the car in a lot and finds you inside. Baton Rouge (BTR, 87 miles) and Lafayette (LFT, 101 miles) are the alternatives, and each is priced as one trip. Houma-Terrebonne Airport (HUM), 3 miles southeast of downtown, has no airline service, but private flights use its two FBOs, Apex Jet Center and Hammonds Air Service.
Offshore crews, Carnival, weddings and swamp days
Offshore and oil-field travel. Bristow and PHI fly helicopters out of HUM to support offshore oil and gas, and Port Fourchon, which serves over 90% of the Gulf's deepwater oil production, is about 60 miles and 1 hour 19 minutes south. A sedan can meet a crew member at MSY and go straight to the address the employer supplies; site access is up to the company running it.
Mardi Gras in Houma. An hourly charter drops your group near the route and stays on call until the last float has passed. Closed streets move the pickup corner, so we agree it with you in writing first.
Weddings. Southdown Plantation & Museum at 1208 Museum Drive rents for weddings and events. The couple rides in a luxury stretch limousine or SUV while a Sprinter moves the bridal party through ceremony, photos and reception.
Swamp tours and Nicholls days. Annie Miller's Son's Swamp and Marsh Tours at 3718 Southdown Mandalay Road runs trips of about two and a half hours all year. Nicholls held its spring 2026 commencement on May 16 at Stopher Gymnasium in Thibodaux.

My wife and I worked with Igor and Limo SF VIP for our wedding. They did an absolutely amazing job. They provided both a luxury sprinter van to carry the bridal party and groomsmen to a first look sight at the busy palace of fine arts and then to the venue and provided luxury ~50-person bus for guests to leave venue. All of the drivers were responsive, and kind. At the end of the night the bus driver even spent an extra ~30 minutes driving the late-night party crew to several different bars after some we intended to go were closed. Overall, 6/5 service. Their prices are fair, and the team is wonderful to work with. I'd highly recommend Limo SF VIP to anyone looking for coach, private limo, or large party needs.Posted on Google![]()

Excellent service! As I was boarding my flight on my way to SFO I was able to book and confirm the service last minute, so quickly. Our driver waited for us by baggage claim and helped us out with our numerous bags. The car was also fabulous! Arriving to SF in style!Posted on Google![]()

Houma limo and towncar service questions
In a lot, not on the arrivals lane, and the exact spot reaches you before you board. MSY marks curb spots for taxis at Door 7 and for hotel shuttles at Doors 1 to 5 but names none for prearranged cars. The first 40 minutes of MSY waiting are free, and they begin at the official posted arrival. From Kenner it is about 44 miles to Houma, roughly 51 minutes with clear roads.
Only when the fare or the connection is clearly better, because the drive roughly doubles. MSY is about 44 miles from Houma, while Baton Rouge Metro (BTR) is 87 miles and Lafayette Regional (LFT) is 101 miles, each close to two hours by car. MSY's terminal has 35 gates and handled over 13 million passengers in 2024. Whichever airport you pick, the run to Houma is priced as a single transfer, not by the hour.
Yes. HUM sits 3 miles southeast of downtown Houma and has no airline service, so private arrivals go through one of its two fixed-base operators, Apex Jet Center or Hammonds Air Service. Tell us which one, plus your tail number and estimated arrival, and the chauffeur waits at that FBO. Whether a car may drive onto the ramp is the FBO's decision. Runway 18/36 is 6,508 feet long, and downtown Houma is about 3 miles from the gate.
Yes, as a one-way transfer to whichever address your employer gives you. Bristow and PHI both run offshore helicopter flights from Houma-Terrebonne Airport, and it is about 44 miles from MSY to Houma. Port Fourchon, which serves over 90% of the Gulf's deepwater oil production, is roughly 60 miles and 1 hour 19 minutes south of Houma, with the last stretch on the tolled LA 1 bridge past Leeville. Who may enter a heliport or dock is set by the company running it, and the chauffeur follows its rules.
You book the vehicle by the hour, and because parade streets are closed, we agree the drop-off and pickup corner with you in writing before the night. Houma rolls ten parades: two on Mardi Gras day itself and the rest across the two weekends before it, and Mardi Gras falls on February 9, 2027. The chauffeur stays on call through the evening, so nobody in your group has to find a parking space near the crowds or leave a car downtown, and the ride home starts when you're ready.
Thibodaux is about 16 miles from Houma, close to 24 minutes in normal traffic. Nicholls held its spring 2026 ceremony on Saturday, May 16 in Stopher Gymnasium on the campus at 906 East 1st Street, and later dates are not yet posted, so send yours once the university announces them. A Mercedes Sprinter carries up to 14, enough for grandparents and cousins in one trip, and an hourly booking covers the ceremony, photos and a dinner afterward.
Yes. Southdown, at 1208 Museum Drive, rents its grounds for weddings and events through the Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society, so ask the venue where cars should stage before the ceremony. The newlyweds can take a stretch limousine or a luxury SUV, and a 14-seat Sprinter can carry the bridesmaids and groomsmen between the church, the photo stops and the reception. Booked by the hour, the vehicles stay through the evening, and capacity for each one is written into the quote.
One is a fixed transfer and the other is billed by the hour. A one-way towncar run to MSY is priced on its 44 miles, while an hourly booking depends on the vehicle, the hours, its hourly minimum and the date, with Saturdays and prom and wedding season running highest. Each extra stop on the MSY run is added to that fare. The quote also lists a 20% chauffeur gratuity separately, and it is figured on the base fare plus any holiday surcharge, waiting or stops.
The Louisiana Public Service Commission does, through its Transportation and Pipelines Division, which regulates for-hire passenger carriers working within the state. The commission publishes a list of carriers it considers properly certificated and insured, and the division answers questions at 225-342-4439. Rides we arrange in Houma are run by a vetted local partner operator. That commission list is where you can check a carrier before the ride.
We get in touch before the storm arrives and offer an earlier departure or another day. The Atlantic storm season lasts from June 1 through November 30, peaking from late August through September, and low roads such as LA 1 toward Port Fourchon can flood in even a weak storm. When the time comes, it is the chauffeur behind the wheel who decides whether water on a particular stretch is safe to drive through. The weather and cancellation terms are the ones written into your quote.
Start with Carnival: Mardi Gras is February 9, 2027, and Houma's parades roll on the two weekends before it, with streets closed for each parade. Nicholls held its 2026 spring commencement in Thibodaux on May 16; later dates aren't posted yet. Southdown's Candlelight Tours run from August to October and its Holiday Market comes in December. Late August and September are the peak of hurricane season. A request for any of those dates is easier to cover the earlier it reaches us, so we can line up the right vehicle.
Yes, as an hourly charter. Annie Miller's Son's Swamp and Marsh Tours leaves from 3718 Southdown Mandalay Road in Houma, runs about two and a half hours and operates all year, so the van waits nearby during the boat ride. Afterward, downtown New Orleans is roughly 55 miles and an hour and 10 minutes away. A Sprinter holds up to 14 people, and larger groups move up to a mini coach for 27 to 36.
