Getting around Iowa City
Iowa City is a university town of about 75,000 on the Iowa River, with I-80 along its north edge and US-218 running past the west side. Downtown holds the Old Capitol and the Ped Mall; Hancher Auditorium is at 141 East Park Road, and UI Hospitals & Clinics is at 200 Hawkins Drive, whose children's hospital overlooks Kinnick Stadium's east stands. Carver-Hawkeye Arena is at 1 Elliott Drive, and Coralville, home of Xtream Arena, adjoins the city to the west.
On football Saturdays the university's game-day plan closes Hawkins Drive and Hawkeye Wave Way, between Melrose Avenue and Evashevski Drive, from two and a half hours before kickoff until two hours after the final whistle, and patients heading to the hospital are told to come in from the north. Winter is the other variable: on March 15, 2026 the Iowa DOT shut I-80 from Altoona to Coralville in a snowstorm.
VIP shuttle service to The Eastern Iowa Airport, and city to city chauffeur service
CID sits off Arthur Collins Parkway in Cedar Rapids, 23 road miles and about 28 minutes from Iowa City. The airport publishes no limousine zone, so the chauffeur parks and meets you inside the terminal. Our airport shuttle services in Iowa also reach Quad Cities International in Moline (63 miles), Des Moines (119) and Chicago O'Hare (218), each priced as one door-to-door trip.

My wife and I worked with Igor and Limo SF VIP for our wedding. They did an absolutely amazing job. They provided both a luxury sprinter van to carry the bridal party and groomsmen to a first look sight at the busy palace of fine arts and then to the venue and provided luxury ~50-person bus for guests to leave venue. All of the drivers were responsive, and kind. At the end of the night the bus driver even spent an extra ~30 minutes driving the late-night party crew to several different bars after some we intended to go were closed. Overall, 6/5 service. Their prices are fair, and the team is wonderful to work with. I'd highly recommend Limo SF VIP to anyone looking for coach, private limo, or large party needs.Posted on Google![]()

Excellent service! As I was boarding my flight on my way to SFO I was able to book and confirm the service last minute, so quickly. Our driver waited for us by baggage claim and helped us out with our numerous bags. The car was also fabulous! Arriving to SF in style!Posted on Google![]()

Iowa City and Cedar Rapids limo questions
The chauffeur waits in a CID lot, at a spot your quote identifies. The Eastern Iowa Airport’s ground transportation page lists taxi, rideshare, shuttle and black-car firms by phone number, yet gives prearranged limousines no lane or curb, so the car is parked wherever CID permits. You get 40 free minutes of waiting, and they start at the airline’s official posted arrival time. Once the flight number is on the booking, a late landing pushes the meeting back. The drive from Arthur Collins Parkway to downtown Iowa City is 23 road miles, about 28 minutes.
When the fare or the schedule is much better and you have a ride waiting. The university steers new arrivals to Cedar Rapids because Des Moines and Moline have no direct ground link to Iowa City, and a booked car removes that problem. Quad Cities International in Moline is 63 road miles, about an hour and 8 minutes; Des Moines International is 119 miles, a little over 2 hours; Chicago O'Hare is 218 miles, closer to 3 hours 40 minutes. Each run is one door-to-door price in a sedan, SUV or Sprinter.
Outside the blocks the university shuts, at a corner we agree before the day. The game-day plan closes Hawkins Drive and Hawkeye Wave Way between Melrose Avenue and Evashevski Drive from two and a half hours before kickoff until two hours after the game, and Melrose itself closes near the stadium an hour before. The chauffeur sets you down short of those barriers and names the return spot. In past seasons the athletics office sold a small number of prepaid bus and limo spaces on Hawkins Drive; we check the current rule when you book.
As one hourly booking that starts at your door and follows the day’s timeline. Downtown Cedar Rapids is about 31 road miles and 35 minutes from Iowa City, so the morning leg needs real time built in. The Paramount Theatre at 123 3rd Avenue SE, restored after the 2008 flood, hosts weddings. You can book a stretch limousine or SUV for the couple and a Sprinter for the attendants; the quote lists each stop and its time.
Tell us the graduate's college and we route to that building. The posted fall schedule puts Engineering at Hancher Auditorium, 141 East Park Road, at noon on Sunday, December 20, while Liberal Arts and Sciences and University College start at the same hour in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Elliott Drive. Earlier ceremonies run from Thursday, December 17, mostly at Hancher. For spring, University College graduates on Saturday, May 15, 2027 at 1:30 pm in Carver-Hawkeye, with doors opening 75 minutes before. Add the airport legs to the same quote.
Yes, and the drop is at whichever entrance your appointment letter names. UI Hospitals & Clinics at 200 Hawkins Drive has three main entrances: the Fountain Entrance, the Pomerantz Family Pavilion and Stead Family Children's Hospital. Weekday valet runs at the Main Entrance from 5:30 am to 7 pm and at Pomerantz until 5:30 pm. On football Saturdays the hospital asks drivers to come in from the north on Hawkins Drive, because streets around Kinnick close, so plan extra time on those dates.
Yes. A sedan or SUV can meet the team at CID, run to the Collins Aerospace campus in Cedar Rapids, then continue about 35 minutes south to the university or the hospital in Iowa City, as an hourly charter or a set of timed legs. Collins is Cedar Rapids' biggest employer, and UI Hospitals & Clinics and the university together employ more than 25,000 people in Iowa City, so a day split between the two is easy to plan. Each leg and pickup time appears on one written quote.
Hours, mostly. A home game ties a vehicle up for the whole afternoon because roads near Kinnick close hours before and after, so game charters are billed by the hour with the vehicle’s minimum. A Tuesday CID transfer is one priced trip. Extra stops and late finishes add to either. Gratuity is 20 percent. It’s worked out on the base fare together with waiting time, stop time and any holiday surcharge, and your bill shows it separately from everything else.
The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Division. Under Iowa Administrative Code chapter 761-524, carriers moving passengers for hire on Iowa highways apply to that division for a motor carrier permit or certificate, and each one must keep an effective certificate of insurance on file with the department, written for at least a year. Our Iowa City trips are run by vetted local partner companies. That division can confirm a carrier’s permit and its insurance filing for you.
We contact you before the pickup and offer to leave sooner, ahead of the worst, or later, once plows have been through. On March 15, 2026 the state shut I-80 between Altoona and Coralville and advised against travel on roads north of US-30, which would have cut off an Iowa City to Des Moines run. Whether a given road is safe enough on the day is up to the chauffeur. Your quote spells out the weather-delay and cancellation terms in writing.
The remaining home football dates and graduation weekends. Wisconsin comes for Homecoming on October 31, Purdue on November 14, and Nebraska plays on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving. University of Iowa ceremonies fill December 17 to 20, 2026, and the spring 2027 schedule spreads across several days in mid-May. For a Sprinter or mini coach on any of those dates, ask for a quote as soon as your group’s plan is settled.
Yes, it’s an easy half day. The seven Amana villages sit about 23 road miles from Iowa City, around 33 minutes, on 26,000 acres that have been a National Historic Landmark since 1965, with more than 450 buildings from the communal era. With room for as many as 14 riders in one Sprinter, a family reunion or office outing travels together and moves between villages without parking each time.
